Loving Lately (again)

Oh hello...two posts right next to each other? Don't you judge me :)

Because, I like the idea of putting up a "Loving Lately" post every now and then becuause you're all dying to know what I like. Or at least, in my self-centered head you do. I mean, I'm still a Lemmon, even though I'm a Lew. DNA!

Okery-dokery here it is

Things I've been loving lately:

1. My hand-held video camera. Sorry, videos not uploading yet again. *frustrated sigh*I have some really good ones! The camera really is sa-weet. As soon as they start actually loading on here, get ready for some video goodness!

2. The three colorful feathers in my hair I got at the Eugene "Saturday Market" or...hippie market... I got them on a whim, but now I really, really like them. They're supposed to last "2 to 4 months." So hoping for 4!!

3. Um..this boy, as usual :)

4. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Yogurtland. I am staunchly anti-frozen yogurt, because it freezes my mouth and doesn't taste nearly as good as ice-cream, so why would I waste my time with it? And I'm bitter that frozen yogurt copy cats are cropping up all over Provo (Spoon me, Spoon it up, Fro-yo, Yogurtland, Fro-Zone, Farr's Fresh, Earthfruits Yogurt-worst name ever-and others, I'm sure) instead of more ice cream places, but alas, I love Yogurtland's Red Velvet Cupcake Batter flavor. It. Is. Delish.

5. My new iPad 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So so so so so not enough so's in the world, so cool! And what occupies my time on it? This game.

Not loving lately...

1. The new NCAA regional/nationals system. Don't get me started, but if it wasn't the way it is, I might be going to Nationals instead of flying myself to Portland. Though, I am stoked to go to Portland too.

2. My videos not uploading to blogger. Boo. What up?!?!

3. Drivers who merge right on top of me and/or cut me off. Almost died a couple times today alone. Great. Blinkers? Looking before you merge? Not driving like a Crazy? Un-learnable, apparently.

That's all for now folks. I guess when it rains, it pours with my blogging. Oh well!!
okay, oKaY, OKAY!

Time for a new, not so whiney (whiny? hmm...), lame-o, boohoo post.

So nothing's like a beautiful Friday in Provo, where the rain has FINALLY left us alone and where I run a crazy workout at practice: one 800 where we run a 43 second 200 followed by a 33 second 200, then repeat with no rest...Craziest 800 meters EVER! Not to mention, with a workout that short (short but hard...my breathing was worthy of mild asthma...) we had a 6 mile cool down. Some cool down.

Back to it being Friday, (Friday, Friday, gettin down on Friday. Yup, stuck in my head) Now I'm just kickin at home, Matt's out playin golf (so cute in his shorts and polo shirt), and I'm Disney Channel-ing it up and perfecting making my mom's cookies.

Look, I finally learned how to make them puffy and round like mom's! Next goal is getting them to taste just as good as mom's. One step at a time people. Anyways, it's been a great day!

There are many things to update! I mean, this is LewsNews after all. And oh, it's good to be a Lew. Just look at me and this cutie!! (this is from Christmas...we're not the best at remembering to take pics...)

First off, Region. It was rainy in Oregon, but I was totally ready after being in rainy Provo. I felt good, and had great position for the first four miles. But, I did not make Nationals. (I'm just getting the bad news out of the way.) The race was slow-fast-slow-really fast-craziness, and after a 17:07 first 5k (SLOW) I was not able to drop a 16:20 5k (FAST) the way the leaders were. Blast this un-fitness of mine! But mom and Jess were there to cheer me on, and I LOVED it. We ate famous Track Town pizza after my race, and my Jess-mess and I ran together the next morning, which is my favorite kind of running to do :)

I was upset though, obviously, since I was 14th and just two places away from qualifying, but being the stubborn, running-loving fool that I am, I've taken matters into my own hands and found a meet in Portland, OR next weekend, where I will run yet another 10k in an attempt to qualify for USA's. Anything to get me back in that BYU uniform! You may call this denial, but I call it "takin it to the max, baby!"

Luckily I have an old teammate, the amazing Anne Heiner, who lives in Portland and is letting me stay with her and willing to drive me around/cheer me on at the race. I'm less than 20 seconds off the "A" standard for USA's so you bet your pants I'm gonna be there chasing after it.

(you don't actually have to bet your pants...unless they're a colorful pair of skinny jeans, then we can talk).

Today my teammate and friend Katie Palmer said, "You're one of the few people I know who actually chooses to run this many 10k's!" Yes, my insanity has been increasing over the years. I know.

Here's me and Katie Palmer (KP, Palm, Palm-Sauce) being the best track roommates EVER.

um...video coming soon I hope. it won't load. but rest assured it's worth waiting for. When I do add it the paragraphs above and below will make more sense...

This is what happens when you're in Eugene for a full four days and you stay in the Shiloh Inn. (Shudder...) It had a "fun" smell. We had actual keys for our rooms. 'Nuff said.

There were many fun videos taken in Eugene. Thanks to Mom and Dad Lew, I have a sweet new hand-held video camera as a graduation gift. Pretty awesome, eh?

I guess I should have talked about Conference first...well I won the 10k there-a nice finish to my MWC career, and BYU's for that matter. (That makes 5 individual MWC titles for me: an indoor 5k, an outdoor 5k, two outdoor 10k's and one cross-country. I am so blessed!)

Dad, Marilyn and Kelsey drove from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins to be awesome cheerleaders! Highlights of the race were the fact that our first mile was faster than the boys' 10k (WE were slow-Morgan and I were talking during the race about how if felt the same as our warm-up pace, so THEY were crawling!) and a long train that went right by and honked the entire time. Interesting? Yes.

Also, I loved hearing my dad yelling the classic cheers, "Breathe!" and "Smooth and easy!" These are my favorite things to hear during a race, well that and how freakin' awesome I look. A little vanity can go a long way to helping you feel good in a race-try it! Feel good, race good, I say. (Even though I often look...not so good...)

Next up, some of our best friends were just accepted to AUC too! (our Caribbean med school) Let's just say the prospect of having a friend there makes me extremely happy! Oh yeah, and Matty will have a study partner too. You know, getting good grades, the whole reason we're going there in the first place...

Speaking of Matty, he will be done with Spring term next week, and then we'll both be working fiends. He'll be selling pest control to the bug-infested Utah masses, and I'll be writing to my heart's content at Utah Valley Magazine. LOVING this, by the way.

On Memorial Day we bbq-ed it up at two awesome parties. First, we grilled everything under the sun at our good friends the Ovuoba's. My personal favorites were the bbq chicken and grilled pineapple, as well as some killer mango salsa, and laughing til I cried with Brianna and Paul's sisters.

Then we did the "Samoan roll" to make room for more food and headed to Bob and Krissy's for more meaty goodness. Bob and Matt were in bbq heaven with chicken, bacon-wrapped steak and bratwurst, which it turns out, Emilee LOVES. Kinsey now calls Matt, "Match" (progressed from "Man").

We had a great time talking and playing wii, which everyone, especially Alyssa, is really good at except me. Poor Emilee got stuck with being my tennis partner. I ended up handing her the controller in shame and she played for both of us. The most entertainment however came from Krissy and Bob going head to head in tennis. Priceless.

Uh...back to track (not a lot of topics to choose from in my life...sorry) we had our team banquet on Wednesday. Even though I'm not leaving yet, it made me realize even more how much I love and will miss these amazing girls. Oh BYU distance, I will love you forever.

Kendy and Katherine, they're so mini! Love running with these two.

The 10k-ers. I know you're jealous...

The group! Can you believe I've been on this team for 5 years?!?!

Upcoming, we're getting psyched for the summer, which is good because Provo finally seems to have remembered it's June and stopped being freezing and raining. Even though we'll be working quite a bit, we've got family coming for the 4th of July and we're going to family in August. CANNOT WAIT FOR JESSICA LEW TO COME HOME AUGUST 3RD!!!

And, let me check my crystal ball: I'm seeing, I'm seeing, Mickey Mouse ears, giant corn dogs, pizza from space and all in all the happiest place on earth. (Please, Matty?)
